HJC F70 SPORTS TOURING MOTORCYCLE HELMET REVIEW
HJC has earned a reputation for manufacturing some of the best sports touring motorcycle helmets available today. One of their more recent products is the HJC F70 Motorcycle helmet. Designed as an all-rounder, the F70 appears to wish to balance old and new.

HJC F70 Design & Build
The design of the HJC F70 is sleek and understated. A theme HJC has continued in the F70’s construction. Instead of popular, and heavier, polycarbonates, HJC have opted instead to build the F70 entirely of Fibreglass. This highly resistant material means that the F70 weighs in at just 1.55kg, providing the wearer with all the comfort and safety they would need.
Despite the modern shell, HJC has done a U-turn when it comes to the visor. The visor is adjusted the old-fashioned way – screws- instead of the more popular quick-release system found on many helmets today. Motorcycle accessories often have to walk the line between safety and practicality, and this is clearly evident here.
What you lose in convenience, however, you gain in security, thanks to the pin-lock system. The visor is as clear as it is secure, offering 99% UV protection and a wider surface area than most others on the market. This offers you greater visibility in all conditions, even those bright sunny days that are ideal for a ride.
One of our favourite aspects is the inbuilt Bluetooth compatible speakers. These speakers allow you to make full use of HJC’s “Smart Intercom System”, so you can take phone calls or enjoy your favourite music on the road. As always, we recommend only doing this safely.
This digital integration is a welcome addition to an already impressive product. The inner lining is also anti-bacterial and can be removed and washed allowing you to avoid smells and extend the longevity of your helmet.
HJC F70 Safety
In terms of safety, the HJC F70 is an example of the basics done right. The helmet is fastened with a double-D ring strap that will keep it securely in place and ensure minimal wobble at high speeds. The ultra-lightweight shell, as mentioned above, is tough, providing extra safety without the need for add ons.
For ventilation, the F70 has taken the well-trodden path of an advanced channelling system – or ACS. This system brings air through the front of the helmet and directs it to your head via venting channels. For further ventilation and comfort, there are vents located on the rear of the helmet as well. These channels are part of the polystyrene lining, allowing both shock absorption and airflow.
Conclusion
The HJC F70 offers a modern twist on a traditional helmet. The lightweight fibreglass build means the wearer doesn’t have to choose between safety and comfort. This safety is further enhanced by the wide visor, which despite being secured by old-school screws, still offers all the visibility and protection you need. This may seem an odd choice, but it is more than made up for with Bluetooth connectivity.
