KAWASAKI H2R NINJA MOTORCYCLE REVIEW
Kawasaki’s “Ninja” line has been on top of the sports motorcycle market for years now. With each new addition they step up their game so much that no one else can keep up with them. But they can’t continue to 1-up themselves forever, can they? Well today we’ll find out. Let’s take a look at the newest member to the team, the revised Kawasaki H2R, and see if it lives up to expectations.
Kawasaki H2R Engine
When it comes to Kawasaki’s sports bikes, you know you’re going to get a pretty powerful engine, and the H2R is no different. The bike comes fitted with a feisty 998cc, supercharged inline four-cylinder engine. While 998cc’s may sound a little bit weak in comparison to other bikes of a similar price, the H2R still has the ability to produce roughly 310bhp (14,00rpm) and a top speed of 205! This level of power for an engine of this size is almost unheard of.
The upgraded engine comes equipped with a few convenient mods that amount to a better overall riding experience. These include: Upgraded camshafts, clutch, improved impeller and intercooler for the engine, as well as a higher capacity airbox and enhanced combustion chamber.
Ninja H2R Chassis
On top of the changes made to the engine and interior of the bike, the frame and build of the bike has also seen some adjustments made to it. One of the more significant changes being the inclusion of new aerodynamic wings, a feature that was previously missing on this model.
Not only do they improve the functionality of the bike, but add to the sporty, contemporary aesthetic that the bike is going for. Another huge change is the switch to carbon fibre for the main frame of the H2R; however, the H2R sticks with the High tensile steel trellis of previous models. This makes the bike much lighter without sacrificing durability and sturdiness.
Suspension, Brakes & More
The suspension system has also seen a few upgrades. The H2R is the first in the Ninja line to utilise fully adjustable KYB AOS II 43mm forks for the front, and a KYB Uni-Trak mono shock. This system does it make it slightly firmer, and makes the bike more suited to track racing, but still gives the option for off-roading.
Moving onto the brakes, the front wheel is fitted with dual 330mm Brembo discs and radial-mounted four-piston callipers, with a single 250mm disc and a dual-piston calliper at the rear. One of the standout features of the H2R is it’s incredibly in depth KEBC brake control system, giving the rider more control over the braking system. Pair this with cornering ABS, and the H2R can comfortably say it has one the best braking systems in the business.
Kawasaki H2R Ninja Price
Well, now we’ve gone over all the major features of the Kawasaki Ninja H2R, we need to discuss whether or not it’s worth its pretty hefty £48,000 price tag. The short answer? Absolutely. It has a level of professionalism that simply can’t be matched by similar products on the market; from its braking and suspension to its raw power and speed, the H2R has everything you could ever need and desire, and for a considerable amount less than comparable bikes.
Overall, the H2R is the perfect performance bike for those who want insane performance but also have a bit of spare coin in the bank. This bike offers everything you could ever want, and more, all while looking great in the process!
