MT STREETFIGHTER SV MOTORCYCLE HELMET REVIEW

The MT Streetfighter SV Motorcycle certainly looks as cool as the name suggests, and has been praised as an excellent entry-level product.

So with good looks, a great name, and a reasonable price tag – is this the helmet for you?

Read our review to find out!

MT Streetfighter SV Design & Build

One of the first things we noticed, and we’re sure you’ll notice too, is that the MT Streetfighter looks good. The design will please almost anyone, and there are a variety of colours to suit every taste. The shell is made from a high impact resistant polymer, which is both lightweight and sturdy. This offers the rider protection, without being too heavy, weighing in at roughly 1.3kg.

In terms of the design, despite how it may appear, the Streetfighter SV is not a full-face helmet. The chin guard is removable and does not contain the same level of padding as the rest of the helmet. While this customisable feature may be welcome for some, others looking for a full-face helmet should consider other options.

The interior features removable pads, which are both antiallergic and easily washed by hand. This makes care, and maintenance for your helmet easy, and stress-free.

The visor is removable, as are the covers for the vents. The airflow system is very effective, with multiple intakes on both the front of the helmet back and extractors on the back. The vents, however, are always open, so should you wish to close them you will need the covers. There is also a sports camera mount included with the helmet, should you wish to record your rides.

MT Streetfighter SV Safety

One of the first aspects of the helmet you will notice will be the striking, and impressive, visor (very streetfighter-esque). It is shatterproof and provides a good level of visibility and UV protection thanks to its tinting.

The Streetfighter SV is secured via a micrometric strap, which will keep the helmet firmly on your head regardless of which configuration you choose.

The internal shell contains mutli-density polystyrene and offers effective shock absorption and protection. The interior is also fire retardant, offering the user further peace of mind.

Conclusion

There is a lot to love about the MT Streetfighter. Especially in the areas of design and price – both of which are very attractive. Furthermore, the customisable nature of the helmet will come in handy for a wide variety of users who will be able to remove the chin guard and visor at will. Finally, the air intake and extraction systems are very effective, which will provide comfort to riders on hot days.

However, it is worth mentioning that these systems may in fact be a little too effective. The volume of air creates a large amount of wind noise, which some riders will find unpleasant. Another area of caution is the chin guard – its lack of cushioning may cause discomfort for some riders.

There’s no disputing that the MT Streetfighter SV is great value for money and a satisfactory entry-level helmet. Like most things in life though, you do get what you pay for.
