VOGE 650 DSX | A SUPERBIKE WAREHOUSE MOTORCYCLE REVIEW

Single cylinder bikes are a favourite amongst the adventuring community, being simple and reliable, as well as affordable for the average rider. They have an almost cult-like following and are a no-brainer for many adventurers over todays market of the plethora of parallel, twin-cylinder options.

The Voge 650DSX Engine

The Voge 650 DSX is an A2 compliant adventure bike. Voge is a relatively new Chinese manufacturer, being founded in 2018 as a subsidiary to Loncin, who have been around for around 40 years now. The bike boasts 47 horsepower and 44 lb-ft of torque at 5500rpm and with a 200+ mile range, the bike is designed to go wherever you point it.

Wheels & Chassis

Carrying you on your way is a 19” front wheel and 17” rear, wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Rally hoops to keep you on track both on and off-road. Speaking of, the Voge 650 DSX is very much off-road oriented: coming standard with an aluminium bash plate and engine bars. The frame is a steel trellis design, and the body comes in three colour options: red, blue or black.

Voge 650 DSX Brakes, Suspension & Luggage

To keep starting price nice and low, the 650 DSX uses a slightly lower cost, Nissin brake system. Despite it being a cheaper option, the Nissin brake system can provide surprising performance when set up correctly. The bike has 298mm twin floating discs in the front, and a single 240mm disc in the rear. There is no cornering ABS, however rear ABS can be turned off when being used off-road.

The suspension is also a slightly more budget option and is supplied courtesy of KYB, who provide a 41mm USD inverted fork in the front, and a mono-shock in the rear. Adding to the rugged look, is the optional luggage rack on the rear, which is available from factory for £500 extra.

From the LED lights to the off-road pegs, the 650 DSX oozes off-road style. The overall look of the bike is completely transformed with the luggage rack, looking extra rugged and ready for anything.

Digital Display Dash

Moving to the cockpit, the bike has a TFT dash that is easy to read and is adjustable to the rider’s liking. The bike also has on board tyre pressure monitoring, helping you stay on top of your maintenance and helping to fine-tune your setup on the fly. This is often an option even on much better established and more expensive brands, which makes this an impressive feature for such a reasonably priced alternative.

Although the bike is a mid-weight bike, it is pushing towards the heavier end. Wet, the bike weighs 219kg all told; however it is still short, with an 850mm seat height, which should make it easy to manoeuvre.

How much does the Voge 650 DSX cost?

Finally, comes the price. At its starting price, it costs £6399, which places it many thousands below similar options from Yamaha and KTM. If the aluminium panniers and storage racking is selected, the price climbs to a whole £6899, which still remains far less than some ‘higher-end’ alternatives. A higher cost bike may have more features or power, but the Voge 650 DSX is shaping up to be a perfect low cost option and is sure to get you from point A to B, no matter where that might take you.
