Uncertainty in the motor finance market following the Court of Appeal's ruling on undisclosed dealer commissions left the business exposed to potential compensation claims from historical customers, while also making finance providers more cautious — a serious problem for a retailer that relied heavily on finance conversions and commission income. On top of that, the cost-of-living squeeze had been steadily eroding buyer confidence, and an aggressive multi-site expansion since 2021 appears to have stretched the group's finances further than its revenue growth could support.

Superbike Factory now joins a run of UK motorcycle retail casualties in recent years, including Completely Motorbikes and Mutt Motorcycles, in a sector that's clearly under real strain.
